‘The Great British Seaside’ is a photographic series influenced and inspired by the seaside towns of Britain. Having been born in Portsmouth and raised within a stones’ throw of the beaches of the South, creating a project around the place where I come from was very inspiring.
This project responded to a brief called ‘Faded Seaside Memories’. Beaches and seaside towns are often thought of as paradise, but in fact many of Britain’s beaches are far from it. Inspired by similar photographers such as Martin Parr, my photographs take a look at empty, forgotten beaches during the height of winter, and how beautiful these places still are, even when forgotten.
